Terms of Service

Effective: July 13, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Belter (the "Service"), a web app that displays synchronized lyrics for music you play through your streaming account, operated by Belter ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service — we'll be sad, but we'll respect it.

1. What the Service is (and isn't)

Belter connects to your Spotify account, reads what you're currently playing, and displays synchronized lyrics — with playback controls — in your browser, designed for the Tesla in-car browser. The Service is currently in beta: features may change, break, or be removed as we build.

Belter is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc., Spotify AB, or Apple Inc. Tesla, Model S/3/X/Y, and Cybertruck are trademarks of Tesla, Inc. Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB. Belter does not connect to your Tesla account or any vehicle systems — it runs in the car's browser like any website.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) and able to enter into these Terms. Access requires signing in with a Spotify account via Spotify's own login; you're responsible for your streaming account and for keeping your devices secure. A Spotify Premium subscription is required for the core feature — that's a limitation of Spotify's API, not a choice we made.

3. Safety first — the important section

Belter is built for parked karaoke sessions and for passengers. If you are driving, your only job is driving.

  • The driver must never watch, read, or interact with the lyric display while the vehicle is in motion. Belter's Drive Mode reduces visual intensity when the car is moving, but no software feature substitutes for your attention on the road.
  • You are solely responsible for complying with all traffic laws, including laws on screen use and distracted driving in your jurisdiction.
  • We may show safety confirmations and mode restrictions; bypassing them is a violation of these Terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any accident, injury, or violation arising from use of the Service while driving.

4. Plans, billing, and cancellation

Belter offers a free tier (limited songs per day and week) and a Premium subscription at $3.99 per month or $40 per year (USD). During the beta/waitlist period no payment is collected; when paid subscriptions launch, billing will be processed by Stripe.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
  • You can cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We don't pro-rate partial periods unless the law where you live requires it.
  • If we change prices, we'll notify you by email at least 14 days before the change affects your renewal. Continued use after renewal means you accept the new price.
  • Taxes may apply depending on your location.

5. Lyrics and intellectual property

Lyrics are retrieved from third-party sources and remain the property of their respective rights holders. Belter displays them for personal, non-commercial karaoke use and claims no ownership of lyric text; accuracy and availability vary by song. If you are a rights holder and believe content displayed by the Service infringes your copyright, email hello@belter.fun with the details described in 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3).

Everything else — the Belter name, design, code, and interface — is ours. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service. If you send us feedback, you grant us the right to use it without obligation to you (and our thanks).

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in violation of law, including traffic law;
  • Probe, scrape, overload, or disrupt the Service or circumvent its usage limits;
  • Reverse-engineer, resell, or offer the Service to third parties as your own;
  • Use the Service to violate Spotify's or any third party's terms of service.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms.

7. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties we don't control — Spotify's API, lyrics providers, hosting infrastructure, and the Tesla browser itself. Your use of Spotify through Belter is also governed by Spotify's own terms and privacy policy. If a third party changes or withdraws something the Service depends on, features may degrade or stop working; we'll do our best, but we can't promise their uptime.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that lyrics are accurate, that sync is precise, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, including use of the display while driving in violation of Section 3.

11. Termination

You can stop using the Service anytime and revoke Belter's Spotify access from your Spotify account settings. We may suspend or terminate the Service or your access for violations of these Terms, or discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice and, for paid subscribers, a pro-rated refund of any prepaid unused period).

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. For material changes we'll email registered users and post the update here at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Belter's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless applicable law gives you the right to a different venue. Questions, complaints, serenades: hello@belter.fun.
